Kampus AAU Yogyakarta merupakan salah satu lembaga pendidikan militer di lingkungan TNI Angkatan Udara dan termasuk dalam kategori pendidikan tinggi di lingkungan nasional. AAU atau Akademi Angkatan Udara merupakan badan pelaksana pusat Mabesau yang memiliki tugas untuk menyelenggarakan pendidikan pertama bagi perwira sukarela TNI/TNI AU untuk menunjang tugas dalam pengabdian selaku bagian dari pertahanan negara. Namun, perwira sukarela tersebut sudah bercirikan sebagai berikut: berkemampuan akademis potensial dasar matra udara, praurit pejuang Saptamarga profesional, dan memiliki kesehatan jasmani yang stabil tentunya.

Untuk melancarkan tugas tersebut, kampus AAU Yogyakarta memiliki tiga program studi yaitu, Teknik Manajemen Industri,  Teknik Aeronautika dan Teknik Elektronika. Di kampus ini, program pendidikan diselenggarakan selama 4 tahun dengan dua pembagian, yaitu 1 tahun program pendidikan integrative di Resimen Chandradimuka Magelang, lalu 3 tahun berikutnya di Akademi Angkatan Udara. Siswa yang lulus dari pendidikan akan dilantik menjadi perwira TNI/TNI AU serta dapat mengembangkan kemampuannya dalam bidang teknologi dengan mengikuti perkembangan tekologi sistem senjata TNI AU. Sejalan dengan pendidikan pengembangan dan pengalaman penugasan selanjutnya, lulusan dari AAU ini akan diproyeksi untuk menjadi pemimpin dalam organisasi TNI/TNI AU.

Mengenal Sejarah Perkembangan Kampus AAU Yogyakarta

Sejarah berdirinya AAU bermula dari pendirian Sekolah Penerbang pada tanggal 15 November 1945 oleh Agustinus Adisutjipto di Pangkalan Udara Maguwo (Lanud Adisutjipto) Yogyakarta. Pada bulan September 1947, TNI AU pertama kali menerima lulusan SLA sebagai siswa penerbang. Mereka mendapat pendidikan dasar kemiliteran di Bukit Tinggi dan melanjutkan pendidikan penerbang di India. Pada bulan November 1950, sebanyak 60 Kadet TNI AU dikirim ke California (USA) untuk mendapatkan pendidikan penerbang di Taloa.

Selanjutnya, pembangunan gedung sebagai fasilitas belajar dilakukan. Pada tanggal 9 April 1960, seiring dengan perayaan hari TNI AU, dilakukan peletakan batu pertama pembangunan Kesatrian Akademi Angkatan Udara di Lanud Adisutjipto. Pada tanggal 26 Juli 1965, Kesatrian AAU bersama dengan Pusaranya diresmikan oleh Menteri Panglima Angkatan Udara, dan tanggal tersebut kemudian ditetapkan sebagai hari berdirinya AAU.

Bersamaan dengan peletakan batu pertama pada tanggal 9 April 1960, tanggal 26 Juli 1965 secara resmi ditetapkan sebagai hari berdirinya Akademi Angkatan Udara (AAU) berdasarkan surat keputusan menteri atau panglima angkatan udara nomor: 52 tahun 1965 dan surat keputusan Menteri Angkatan Udara nomor: 32 tahun 1965. Pataka Akademi Angkatan Udara dengan moto “Vidya Karma Vira Pakca” diresmikan dan diserahkan oleh Presiden Republik Indonesia kepada Komandan Jenderal Akademi Angkatan Udara, Komodor Udara Dono Indarno. “Vidya Karma Vira Pakca” berarti bahwa setiap perwira lulusan AAU, dengan ilmu pengetahuan dan sikap ksatria yang dimiliki, siap untuk menjalankan tugas negara dan bangsa dalam menjaga kedaulatan wilayah udara nasional.

Namun, pada saat itu, ada persaingan yang tidak sehat dan semangat Korp yang berlebihan, yang akhirnya mengakibatkan pengintegrasian keempat lembaga pendidikan Akademi Angkatan dan POLRI di bawah satu komando, yaitu AKABRI AAU. Perubahan ini terjadi dengan adanya Panglima koti nomor: 185/koti/1965 tanggal 16 Desember 1965, yang juga diperingati sebagai hari jadi AKABRI. Gagasan penggabungan empat lembaga tersebut dicetuskan oleh Jenderal Gatot Subroto.

Dengan terbentuknya AKABRI, ada perubahan organisasi dalam Wing Sekolah Penerbang. Sebagai akibatnya, Wing pendidikan nomor: 1 (Wingdik I) dibentuk kembali pada tanggal 20 Februari 1968. Kemudian, seiring dengan reorganisasi ABRI sejak tanggal 16 Juni 1984, AKABRI bagian Udara kembali menjadi bagian dari TNI AU dengan nama Akademi Angkatan Udara.

Pada tanggal 16 Desember 1966, AAU bersama lembaga pendidikan ABRI lainnya (AMN, AAL, dan AAK) diintegrasikan menjadi Akademi Angkatan Bersenjata Republik Indonesia (AKABRI), dengan AAU menjadi bagian dari Akabri bagian udara. Namun, sejak tanggal 16 Juni 1984, dalam rangka reorganisasi ABRI dan sesuai kebijakan petinggi ABRI, Akabri Bagian Udara kembali menjadi bagian dari TNI AU dengan nama Akademi TNI Angkatan Udara. Pada tanggal 8 November 1985, Pusara AAU yang memiliki seloka Vidya Karma Vira Paksa diterima kembali oleh pimpinan TNI AU.

Selama perkembangannya, Akademi TNI AU (AAU) saat itu terus berupaya untuk menjaga agar pendidikan mereka selalu sesuai dengan perkembangan zaman. Salah satu langkah yang diambil adalah menerapkan Pola pendidikan 3-1 sejak tahun 1986. Pola ini terdiri dari program pendidikan 3 tahun di AAU dan 1 tahun dasar kecabangan di Kesatuan-kesatuan TNI AU. Selain itu, sejak tahun 1986, AAU juga menerapkan Sistem Kredit Semester (SKS) untuk mengikuti perubahan kebutuhan. Sesuai dengan kebutuhan tersebut, tiga majoring dalam penyelenggaraan pendidikan ditetapkan, yaitu Aeronautika, Elektronika, dan Administrasi. Pada tahun 1992, majoring Administrasi diubah menjadi majoring Teknik Industri, dan pada tahun 1999, majoring tersebut kembali diubah menjadi majoring Teknik Manajemen Industri.

Teknik Aeronautika

Teknik Aeronautika merupakan salah satu program studi yang disediakan oleh kampus AAU Yogyakarta. Program studi ini memiliki fokus pada kompetensi keahlian pada bidang perawatan mesin dan rangka pesawat udara.

Teknik Elektronika

Teknik Elektronika yang merupakan salah satu program studi di Akademi Angkatan Udara ini mempelajari tentang dasar-dasar teknik elektronika serta pengembangan perangkat lunak dan perangkat keras.

Teknik Manajemen Industri

Teknik Manajemen Industri menawarkan bidang keahlian Sistem Manufaktur, Manajemen Industri serta Sistem Industri dan Tekno-Ekonomi.

Biaya Kuliah di Kampus AAU Yogyakarta

Seluruh biaya kuliah di Akademi Angkatan Udara Yogyakarta telah ditanggung oleh pemerintah, mulai dari biaya pendaftaran, biaya pendidikan maupun biaya hidup selama berada di asrama hingga masa belajar selesai. Akan tetapi setelah lulus dari AAU, kamu wajib untuk bekerja di lingkungan TNI/TNI AU.
